KEIM – the world’s leading specialist in mineral building protection – is the winner of the German Sustainability Award 2026 in the Paints and Coatings category. This prize is the most important of its kind in Europe and honours companies that set standards in their industry and develop innovative, future-proof solutions for a more sustainable world.
A high-calibre jury of around 240 experts selected KEIMFARBEN as the winner in the sector. The company is therefore one of the best when it comes to combining economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility in a special way.
KEIM was born to act sustainably. Almost 150 years ago, the company founder A.W. Keim already felt committed to being mindful of future generations: “We want to live, work, struggle, fight and care for our fellow human beings, to work for our descendants, so that things will be better on earth.” His motto still applies to the company today. The pioneering role in terms of sustainability has been proven countless times in the company’s history: in 1993, KEIM launched Biosil, the first healthy-living interior paint, and later received the world’s first natureplus certifications for interior and facade paints. Since 2022, KEIM products have carried the Cradle to Cradle Certified® silver certificate and the Material Health Certificate™ in gold. It is only awarded to products that do not contain any substances from the list of banned chemicals and do not pose a risk to health or the environment. From an initial 65 products, the number of certified KEIM products increased to 80 in 2024. That is over 85% of paint sales. This puts the company at the forefront of the construction industry, and the KEIMFARBEN brand lives from the highest standards of durability and quality of the colour products, supported by continuous innovation.
