The 19th Street underground station is located in the middle of Uptown Oakland, near the historic Paramount Theatre on Broadway. MG Engineering has modernised Oakland’s underground station to optimise mobility, the environment and traffic. Elements such as the new station cabin, the glass art railing and the five foot high glass barriers improve accessibility and visibility and reduce fare evasion. A new lift and bicycle racks increase passenger capacity. The energy-saving LED lighting increases safety and the fresh, light-coloured surfaces make it easier for passengers to find their way around.
