ZAYED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The terminal at Zayed International Airport in the United Arab Emirates impresses with a roof construction of wide-span arches and a towering, wave-shaped roof inspired by sand dunes and geometric patterns. To keep out the desert sun, the roof has been drawn over the facade, requiring less glazing and no external shading. Head of Design at KPF Mustafa Chehabeddine emphasises that the design references the cultural and natural environment of Abu Dhabi.
