Hotel Mandarin Oriental Ritz

The Hotel Ritz in Madrid, a splendid 5-star luxury hotel, was inaugurated in 1910 by King Alfonso XIII and is currently operated by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. It was commissioned at the request of King Alfonso XIII, who, upon returning from a European tour, realized that Spain lacked a suitable hotel to host European kings and other prominent guests. The magnificent building was designed in 1908 by the renowned French architect Charles Frédéric Mewes and was constructed between 1908 and 1910 under the supervision of architects Luis de Landecho and Lorenzo Gallego. It was one of the first buildings in Madrid to use reinforced concrete in its construction. The construction was completed on May 14, 1910. In 2018, the Mandarin Oriental Group acquired the building and conducted an extensive renovation under the direction of architect Rafael de La-Hoz.
