Grand Hotel Łódż
The Grand Hotel in Łódź, a vibrant university and industrial city in Poland, has been the epitome of…
Four modern, family-friendly apartment buildings with 149 flats and an underground car park stand on Kastanienallee boulevard in Berlin-Hellersdorf. The architecture of Femke Hägen’s design is based on the surrounding area, which is characterised by 1980s prefabricated concrete tower blocks. A 14-storey tower with 65 apartments and a seven-storey L-shaped building with three entrances and 28 apartments each blend harmoniously into the cityscape. 60 apartments are barrier-free, with lifts to all floors. Play areas, green spaces and bicycle parking spaces create a high quality of living. Shops on the ground floor ensure local amenities, while social facilities bring the neighbourhood to life. The Berlin funding programme ‘Socially Integrative City’ aims to further develop social stability and infrastructure in this part of the city.
